Despite the rain, the Cambria opening was a resounding success. A fascinating crowd of folks. It was fun meeting the legendary Darryl Sittler and comparing our small town boyhoods, his in St. Jacobs and mine in Fergus. Big thanks to Linda, Janet and the Cambria staff for making us feel so very welcome. Selling a painting was nice too.
I didn't tell Mr. Sittler about a 12 year old me suiting up and getting on the ice for the first time one Saturday. Confused, excited and terribly near sighted I got turned around, broke away and scored on my own goal. I thought the screams of outrage from my teammates was cheering.
