Floral

One of my favourite floral paintings has found a home in the collection of our dear friends, Cathie and Steven Friedman. I am always very happy to see how my pictures look in a new setting once they have left the studio.

Home and Garden, 12x16

All of these recent 12x16's will be shown at the Canadian National Exhibition in August.  My flagship gallery, the incomparable Artworld Fine Art under the leadership of Donna Child will have a booth in the ARTS AND CRAFTS building.  The plan is to show works other than my trademark streetcar pieces.

Artworld Uncorked with the great Garth Armstrong

After the Wedding, 12x16

We were attending a wedding reception in Niagara wine country.  I slipped out for a bit of air and was greeted by a golden sunset reflected in the estate's pond. Those are the kind of moments which keep me painting.

Canada's Most Wanted?

Just got this photo from the police officer son of two of our closest friends.

There was a St Lucia Police Officer who needed some training by Toronto Police so he came here for 8 weeks and they had a reception with him and the deputy chief at Police Headquarters. I saw the picture they posted on a computer at work and noticed in the background, there is a Rick Taylor painting hanging at Police HQ.

Wow. So very cool and thank you Artworld!
Dad sometimes said a picture of (by?) me might end up on the wall of a police station if I didn't shape up.

Arrested Development...the good kind.

Great pub lunch with my comic book buddies. Lots of very ribald laughter.
The immensely talented Noel Tuazon always marks these occasions with a sketch of the gang.

"500," acrylic, 24x36

"500" acrylic, 24x36
As a rule I dislike taking on commissions.  This one, however was an interesting challenge.  A friend who works for GO Transit wanted a painting to commemorate the arrival of their 500th double decker bus.  I got to spend time in the depot and the service garage, interact with the mechanics and get a sense of the pride and professionalism which goes into getting us around in the world.
